AREA 47 extreme canyoning in the Ötztal in Tyrol
Life at the limit: this tour is really only for hardened canyoning experts and is perhaps one of the toughest in the whole of Austria.
Love extremes? Jumps of up to 14 metres? Merciless waterfalls? 40 metre long abseils? Look forward to a thrilling canyoning kilometre in the Middle and Lower Auerklamm with an exciting rock dome. For experienced canyoners only!
Tour information
Meeting Point & Schedule
- Meeting point: AREA 47 Outdoor Base. Please check in 15 minutes before the tour starts
- After the safety briefing, you’ll receive your complete canyoning equipment: wetsuit, helmet, harness, neoprene socks and canyoning shoes
- A shuttle will take you to the Middle and Lower Auerklamm canyon
- Expect spectacular rappels, high jumps, powerful waterfalls and challenging canyoning sections
- After the tour, we’ll bring you back to AREA 47
- Total duration including check-in, equipment fitting, transfer and tour: approximately 4 hours
Good to know: For experienced canyoners only. Jumps of up to 14 metres and rappels of up to 40 metres are possible.

Equipment & Packing List
- Swimwear and towel
All equipment such as a wetsuit, shoes, harness, and helmet is provided. On-site, you’ll find changing rooms, lockers, and showers.
Requirements & Weather
- Canyoning experience
- Strong swimming skills, surefootedness & no fear of heights
- Minimum age: 16 years | Maximum weight: 130 kg
The tour takes place in all weather. For unsafe conditions, a replacement date will be offered.
Included Services
- Transfer to the starting point and back
- Full specialized equipment, including adidas Terrex canyoning shoes
- Admission to the Water AREA on the day of the tour (before and after the tour)
